Getting There
From King’s Cross Tube Station to German Gymnasium Bar, the walking route is quite straightforward and takes around 5-10 minutes:
- Exit the King’s Cross Tube Station and head southeast on Euston Rd toward York Way.
- Turn right onto York Way and continue straight.
- After a short walk, you’ll come across a pedestrian crossing. Cross over York Way here.
- Continue straight ahead on York Way until you reach the junction with Goods Way.
- Turn left onto Goods Way.
- German Gymnasium Bar will be on your right-hand side, at the corner of Goods Way and Stable Street.
Along the way, you’ll see:
- King’s Cross Station: One of London’s major railway stations, known for its iconic architecture and bustling atmosphere.
- St Pancras International: Adjacent to King’s Cross, this is another major railway terminus and home to the Eurostar service to continental Europe. The station building is architecturally stunning.
- The British Library: Just a short distance from King’s Cross, you’ll pass by the impressive British Library, one of the world’s largest libraries, with a vast collection of books and manuscripts.
- Granary Square: A large public square featuring fountains, restaurants, and green spaces. It’s a popular spot for relaxing and socializing.
- Coal Drops Yard: A revitalized Victorian-era industrial area now filled with shops, restaurants, and cafes. It’s known for its unique architecture and trendy atmosphere.
- The Regent’s Canal: If you take a slight detour, you can walk along the picturesque Regent’s Canal, which runs parallel to Goods Way. It’s a peaceful waterway lined with narrowboats and surrounded by greenery.
